(hey its me!)
ABOUT FROS FOOD AND FASHION
I'm an early 20-something year old higher education professional who started this blog originally as a weight loss blog but figured i would just blog about the things I care about enough to write about: my weight loss journey, my hair and cute clothes.
After graduating this past december and finding a job in August (praise God), I figured that I have enough stability to blog regularly now.
The motto behind this blog is simple: Healthy food. Healthy hair. and a healthy obsession with fashion. (cute huh? lol)
While most of the blog will be griping about workouts or discovering that veggies aren't that damn bad, be on the lookout for the fashion and hair posts (especially the hair posts-I'm trying to double the size of my afro in 18 months)
Feel free to contact me (email is good, but comments are better-I'm still not good with checking that email account regularly).
ABOUT MY WEIGHT and WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY
I’ve never been skinny. Well, i stopped being skinny when I was about 10 years old. The other day my sorority sister talked about being “thick” at 165 lbs, and I joked that the last time I was 165 lbs I was in kindergarten.

Of course that's a joke, but as of lately (within the last 2 years), my weight has become more that just an aesthetic issue for me. Health issues have come in, my skin and even my hair are affected by the horrible (but delicious…damn their taste) foods I’ve put in my body.
In middle school, I wasn’t skinny (a size 11 in juniors…which is a 8/10 in women’s) but I was toned and active. I participated in sports (volleyball) camps and auditions and worked out daily through the PE and sports programs at middle school. I ate HORRIBLY, barely drunk water, however, I passed my physicals with flying colors and barely put on weight.
I didn’t work out in high school. I gained about 20 pounds, putting me at a size 13 in juniors by my senior year, and for the first time, I was 200 pounds (size 12 womens).
From the start of college in Fall of 2008, to my graduation in December 2012, I gained over 65 pounds and I am now at a size 18-20/22 and a 2-3X. Because of my height, I wear my weight well, and most people don’t believe that’s my size, but I feel the difference. Stress, jobs, meal plans, fast food and relationships were why I ate.
Since December, I continued to solve my stress from not having a job by eating, in particular mexican food (my weakness) and drinking (Im a beer and margarita addict…its my texas roots)
About 15 more pounds have packed on since I graduated. Now that I have an AWESOME job (so excited), and the resources (cash) to get running shoes, buy a gym membership, buy exercise tapes, etc, I have no excuse.
Right now, I weight 250+ pounds. I said when I lose 30 pounds, I’ll reveal my starting stats because right now, its a little embarrassing.
My goal right now is to show my followers my journey from start to healthy (because there is no finish with this). Im so glad to be able to share my journey and progress.
Currently, my ultimate weight loss goal is 100 pounds. That will put me back to my middle school weight when everything was tight. I plan to achieve that with clean eating, High Intensity Training, and introducing a little weight lifting into the mix a little later. My goal is to do this in a year (so losing about 8.2 pounds a month is the goal)
If you are looking to lose 100+ pounds, email me at contactjessika@gmail.com
